Revit plot error – Windows Security Update conflict

Have you been trying to plot multiple sheets lately but keep running into this error?

“Revit could not start the print job because it was unable to connect to the specified printer. Check your printer connectivity and try again.”

I kept running into this problem, and my solution was to just ignore it and hope that it would sort itself out! (It didn’t). As other users have discovered, it is due to the latest Windows Security Update which somehow conflicts with Revit’s Plotting.

To fix this error and print multiple sheets again, you need to uninstall the latest Windows update. Here’s how:

Open your Control Panel, go to Programs, then Programs and Features. Click on View Installed Updates on the left sidebar.

In the search bar, copy and paste the following:

  • If you are using Windows 7, copy and paste KB3177725
  • If you are using Windows 10, copy and paste KB3172729

Once selected, click uninstall.

This should solve the Plot error and allow your printing to resume as normal.

If anyone else in your office or network receive the error message: “Revit could not start the print job because it was unable to connect to the specified printer. Check your printer connectivity and try again.” Then please share this blog post with them and help them out!
